BFL opened its doors in February of 1971 to support newcomer and vulnerable families with a vision of becoming a destination where people grow, and families get stronger. Today we offer licensed child care , LINC-child Minding Programs, parenting and individual support groups, family drop-ins programs, pregnancy outreach, frontline community outreach, family life education programs, and counselling for women, youth and children who have experienced trauma and abuse. BFL provides safe spaces for families to grow their networks, connection to community and overcome barriers to settlement and integration.

BFL is also the lead agency for community tables addressing social issues.
